Ethereal Writing: WIP excerpt

WIP is Work In Progress

Currently on book Eleven, Chapter sixteen.

Allow me to present a sample of my current literary endeavour. Sleep – that rare jewel that we so often take for granted, plays an important role in this tale. It unfolds as a theatrical performance of our subconscious, moving beyond banal dream sequences. We find ourselves questioning – who indeed are we in our dreams? The understanding of our wakeful selves is often quite cryptic and obnubilating*. Are we closer to our true selves while we sleep, or do we embark upon a journey into an even more abstract realm further devoid of who we are?

*Obnubilate means to cloud over, becloud or make unclear or indistinct. A bit obscure, I know, but a charming word.

WIP Excerpt:

“Gently, the dormant dreams of the four children come to life, breathing an otherworldly aura into the otherwise sombre room. They unfurl and spiral upwards, like tremendous wisps of imagination given form. The dreams manifest as soft, silent eruptions in the echoing expanse above their slumbering forms. They drift lazily, weaving their magic into the air like elusive clouds infused with vibrant stories and adventures.”
