I found a lovely damaged old children’s book cover online. The first cover of the 1906 Olive fairy book by editor Andrew Lang and illustrated by H. J. Ford. It’s a collection of fairy-tales which you can read here as it’s out of copyright. The cover is lovely but all of the photographs I found were either not enough pixels, far too damaged or way too shiny. And while I can see that there are some lovely illustrations on the spine of the cover, I can’t seem to find a clear enough image to replicate it. So my search continues. I posted it on Mastodon and have found some excellent tips on where to search. I’ve send out a few emails to collectors and hopefully they’ll be nice enough to send me some pictures to work with.
